No matter where I am, no matter what I do….I am a true Indian…'Desi' as I like to refer myself to. It reflects in my actions, my words, my habits …. All the way in my life…
With the rich culture and customs what my motherland had to offer, I make the best of it all. Being religious, doing pooja on a daily basis, is not my cup of tea, But I like to spend atleast a minute to take a deep breadth and become one with myself and my Guide, my inner strength. I don't need to do it at a particular time in the day or in a particular place…it could be while travelling to office or having my breakfast or in a meeting where my involvement is not a must…basically anywhere and everywhere.
I feel no one in our country is brought up to be stringent / stubborn / headstrong, rather it's in our upbringing that we are taught to be caring / thoughtful / adjusting. Most important we are brought-up to fulfil the desire of a near-n-dear one before we do ours.
We believe every morning sun comes over to shower its rays of blessings upon us. We fold hands in front of our God and pray for the betterment of our family, and for the strength that will keep us together.
We believe the water used in pooja is like Gangajal and is sprinkled around in the house for purification.
We believe if we talk with respect to our elders and kids we will get the same in return.
We believe that praying to God will drive our worries away.
We believe that is we are true to ourselves and others, no evil can affect us.
We believe we cant have the best of everything.
We believe we can smile in the adverse of all situations.
We believe hiding our emotions help sooths others pain.
We believe we will have to pay the price of our bad deed in this life or our next.
We believe we have 7 lives to live before our spirit is set free.
We believe priests are the messengers of God and know it all.
We believe in our elders and have complete blind faith in what they have to tell us.
We believe it's alright to make a few mistakes, because we are not GodWe believe life has more to offer than what we can see.
We are a die-hard optimistic, (un)punctual, hearty, jovial lot and true dreamers. We believe we can fly without wings and this world is a small/tiny place not offering us much room to explore.
We still believe in family values. We sacrifice our needs and desires to save enough to offer the best to our kids. We spend our lives looking after our elders, our kids, our family, our friends…and not to forget our enemies too……and deep inside feel content that all those people are looking after us too in return and so we are well taken care of, even though not by ourselves.
There is not a single thing that I find which makes me believe that India is a developing 3rd grade country.
I know we are a 1st Grade developed nation….and our wealth is not green/red/blue paper currency. It actually the love, the care, the respect, the joy, the values, the rituals, the customs, the culture which lives in the heart and mind of people.
No one can take this away from us…no divide and rule policy, no dominant rule, no impositions and feel-inferior attitude….as We depict Unity and Diversity in form of INDIA.
